South West suicide prevention training calendar

The South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service (SWCADS) coordinate mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention training for health professionals and communities.

This calendar is collated for the purpose of disseminating information to the South West community.

Please note this calendar may not be exhaustive of all suicide prevention training in the South West.

Training events

These training events are suitable for General Practitioners (GPs), other health professionals and para professionals (e.g. teachers). 

Val Lishman Health Foundation – GP online training

The program trains GPs to manage suicidal patients. It is accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as a CPD Accredited Activity until the 2023. Upon completion of the training program, GPs will receive 40 CPD (Continued Professional Development) points in the RACGP CPD 2020-2022 Triennium (Activity Number 186493).

Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training

Gatekeeper Workshops are for participants who are professionals or para professionals whose role brings them in to regular contact with people at risk of suicide.

These events are available to allied health workers, teachers, community organisations, students and the general public. 

LivingWorks Start (Online, self paced)

LivingWorks Start is a 90-minute online training program for all Australians 15 years and over to learn how to recognise when someone is having thoughts of suicide and respond to keep them safe.
