Come along and bring your family and friends for a great night of fun, song, dance and many laughs while supporting a great cause. Ballarat Friends of Ainaro Health Group are running a Fundraising Bushdance on 25th March at Donegan's Farm. This is a great opportunity to reach out and help improve healthcare in Ainaro by building scholarships for health students. Go on, 'do good for yourself by doing good for others'. If you're unable to come, consider purchasing a ticket as a donation.

Feast Day celebrations were held today in the hospital foyer. Caregiver and volunteer Length of Service Awards were presented and St John of God Horizon House Youth Services Area Co-ordinator Andrea Skinner spoke about the establishment of two Horizon Houses in Ballarat. A Spanish influenced lunch followed in the cafeteria. The Horizon House Program, part of St. John of God Social Outreach Services, provides safe and stable accommodation, intensive therapeutic care and support to young people aged 16 to 22 years who are currently experiencing, or are at serious risk of, homelessness. The Young Mother and Baby Program assists young mothers and their babies and provides a safe environment that nurtures the mother and baby relationship. Caregivers were invited to assist in the setting up of two Horizon Houses in Ballarat by way of donating items needed for bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, baby packs, lounge room and outdoor packs. Baskets were placed around the hospital for collection of donated items. Ballarat’s nominee for the St John of God Health Care’s Jennifer Stratton Scholarship was announced. Fiona Fitsimmons was nominated for the annual scholarship which is awarded to a caregiver who lives the Vision, Mission and Values in their daily interactions, whether they are with caregivers, patients, clients or others. The successful recipient will be invited on the St John of God Health Care Pilgrimage to Spain and Ireland, where they will be able to walk in the footsteps of St John of God in Granada and the Sisters of St John of God in Ireland.
