Our opening hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm (10.30am to 6.30pm Thursdays at Cockburn).

To make an appointment, you’ll need to see your GP for a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Then contact the Raphael Services closest to you to make an appointment.

It can be very worrying when you can see someone is struggling before or after the birth of their baby – mum, dad or both of them. Talk to them about your concerns for them and their baby and gently encourage them to see their doctor about their emotional wellbeing sooner rather than later.
From there, the GP can refer them to the most appropriate service. In the meantime a listening ear, practical support around the home and being available to care for the baby for short times so that they can get enough rest are the best ways to help.

Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia (PANDA) provides information for Australian women, men and families affected by anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the first years of parenthood.

The Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) provide mums and dads with trustworthy and supportive insights, strategies and advice about how you may be feeling.

If you feel like you are in a high level of distress and need help immediately, don’t wait. Please ensure your baby is safe and contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or attend your local hospital emergency department. Alternatively, make an appointment to see your GP to discuss your concerns and make a plan for support. Raphael Services is a community-based service and as such supports people who are not in acute distress and by appointment only.
