Continence service

Our continence clinic provides support and assistance if you experience urinary or faecal incontinence while in hospital or after you are discharged.

Incontinence describes any accidental or involuntary loss of urine from the bladder (urinary incontinence) or bowel motion, faeces or wind from the bowel (bowel incontinence).

Incontinence is a widespread condition that can be treated and managed. In many cases it can also be cured.

Our services

We provide specialist knowledge and guidance for your bladder and bowel management. Our services include:

  • assessment and care planning
  • conservative management
  • education about bladder habits
  • pelvic muscle exercises
  • teaching intermittent self-catheterisation, self-dilatation
  • information on aids and appliances
  • follow up as necessary.

We provide holistic care by working closely with a range of medical and allied health practitioners.
