Recruitment steps

Find out what to expect when you apply for a job with us.

If you are applying for a medical-based role, such as a nursing, allied health or a doctor position, we recommend your AHPRA registration or membership with the relevant Allied Health organisation is approved before you apply.

AHPRA ensures that only health practitioners with the skills and qualifications to provide competent and ethical care are registered to practice. When you apply for registration, your application is carefully assessed against the National Board’s requirements for registration to ensure you are suitably trained and qualified and meet the requirements for registration in your profession.

For any queries regarding AHPRA registration, visit the AHPRA website.

View our current opportunities through our careers portal. You can search by area of work or employment type.

Once you have found the right position for you, you can apply for the role by creating an account (if you haven't already), and then submit your application online via our careers portal. You will be asked to confirm your personal details, complete a short questionnaire and attach your resume, cover letter and other relevant documentation.

All caregivers employed by St John of God Health Care are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Once applications for a position have closed, the hiring manager will review your application against the selection criteria for the position.

If you are shortlisted, we will contact you. You’ll also be notified if you have not been successful.

If you are shortlisted, we’ll invite you to attend an online interview. The interview will either be done as a live video or automated video.

We will send you an email which will include how to prepare for your interview and the format to expect.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process, we ask your permission to contact at least two of your professional referees.

At St John of God Health Care, we put our patients and clients at the centre of our care and want every caregiver to have the same commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

With this in mind, there may be some pre-employment documents to submit, however, we will advise you if and what documents we need.

Once we have contacted your referees and we have received your pre-employment documents, we will get in touch to formally offer you the role. We will walk you through the process from there and discuss your relocation needs and what you need from us (i.e. assistance with flights or accommodation) to ensure you feel supported in your transition to Australia.

We will also discuss

  • a flexible start date to suit your needs
  • remuneration
  • terms of employment
  • comprehensive orientation information
  • assistance with sponsorship visa applications (if applicable)

Please note: our careers portal is the only method of applying for a job with us. We do not take applications or expressions of interest for jobs via email or any other format.
