History of St John of God Bendigo Hospital
St John of God Bendigo Hospital was established in 2005 after being acquired by St John of God Health Care from Mt Alvernia Mercy Hospital.
St John of God Health Care is proudly continuing the Catholic tradition and mission of providing excellence in health care to Bendigo, which was started by the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood who founded the hospital in 1961.
Today our hospital is a contemporary regional private hospital – providing services to Bendigo and surrounding communities across central and northern Victoria and into New South Wales. We continue to invest in the community we serve by continually developing our services and facilities.
Our most recent investment is the redevelopment of our birthing suites, completed in March 2019. This concludes a major redevelopment of the entire hospital with all other works having been completed in May 2017.
