Dr D'Alessandro studied medicine at UWA and graduated with Honours. He completed his orthopaedic training in Western Australia before heading to the UK and North America to gain further expertise in sports surgery at a number of internationally recognised institutions.

Dr D'Alessandro has substantial experience in:

• ACL and multi-ligament knee reconstruction
• Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and shoulder instability surgery
• Workers compensation
• Hip arthroscopy and hamstring surgery.

He has a particular interest in surgery for athletes.   

Dr D'Alessandro consults to a number of professional sporting teams across Western Australia. He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Australian Knee Society, Hip Preservation Society and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a founding director of the Orthopaedic Research Foundation of Western Australia, and is Chief Supervisor of the Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship. He is committed to the public health system and is a consultant in orthopaedic surgery and trauma at Fiona Stanley and Fremantle Hospitals.
