The new St John of God Carine Specialist Centre opened today with over thirty specialists now available for patient consultations at the centre. All specialists provide hospital care at St John of God Subiaco or Mt Lawley hospitals.
General surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric and vascular surgery, are among the many specialties offered out of this new location.
The centre is located in Carine, 15km north of the Perth central business district, providing the Perth's northern suburbs with enhanced access to specialists from St John of God Subiaco and Mt Lawley hospitals.
Patients can ask their general practitioner (GP) for a referral to see one of the centre’s experienced specialists and view their profile online.
St John of God Subiaco Hospital Chief Executive Officer Professor Shirley Bowen said that the motivation to open this new service was to improve the patient experience.
“In opening the St John of God Carine Specialist Centre we can now offer patients in this region a much more convenient option for being seen to by specialists from both hospitals,” she said.
St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital acting Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Unwin said she was hopeful that the excellent location and facilities of this new service, combined with the expertise of its many specialists, would serve the local community well for many years to come.
