New Innovate Reconciliation Plan for 2017-2019

A new Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for 2017 – 2019 will support, guide and hold St John of God Health Care caregivers to account in making reconciliation between Australia’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous people a reality.

Reconciliation Action Plan

In creating the 2017 to 2019 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan SJGHC have reviewed the organisation’s progress towards Reconciliation to identify ways to build upon successes by increasing activities in already established areas including:

employment
internship
community partnerships
provision of health services.

It features practical plans of action built on relationships, respect and opportunities to generate social change and economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Since 2011, SJGHC has actively participated in reconciliation through developing a RAP and implementing it group wide during 2013–2015.

Its involvement builds upon the organisation’s rich heritage in serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people, which began with the Sisters of St John of God.

The RAP for 2017–2019 recognises how far SJGHC have come and outlines a series of actions that must be undertaken to further support reconciliation in Australia.

This is an important contribution toward creating a society where the dignity and worth of every person in Australia is seen as important and has equal access to employment, health care and education.
