Dr Tom Van Hagen trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London, moved to Perth in 1999 and completed his oncology training in Perth in 2008.

He completed a fellowship in melanoma and gynaecological cancers at The Royal Marsden, London in 2009.

Since then, Dr Van Hagen has worked as an oncologist at Royal Perth Hospital until the department's closure in February 2015.

He now continues to work at St John of God Subiaco Hospital in the Bendat Cancer Centre.
