Where we are
Dr Hannah Sylvester graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2009 and completed two years of rotations through different specialties within the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and The Simpson’s Centre for Reproductive Health, giving her a sound medical foundation.
Following this she emigrated to Australia in 2011 to begin working at King Edward Memorial hospital in Perth. To gain experience of the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in multiple different settings she worked in Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and Busselton, and regional units in Queensland and New South Wales. In 2014 she was welcomed back to King Edward Memorial Hospital to fulfil her career goal of completing specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
She achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) in 2021. This included an additional two-year fellowship into Diagnostic Ultrasound working with the Diagnostic Imaging and Maternal Fetal Medicine department at King Edward Memorial Hospital and attaining the ASUM Post-graduate Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound O&G.
Dr Sylvester has a particular interest in early pregnancy complications and management, antenatal screening and diagnosis and is qualified to provide formal ultrasound examinations and interventional procedures if required. She is highly experienced in the management of high and low risk pregnancies and committed to an exceptional level of care throughout your pregnancy journey, the delivery and the post-partum period.
She prides herself on inclusivity, protecting patient autonomy, ensuring informed collaborative decision making, especially around delivery planning, and enjoys the continuity of care that private work allows.
Dr Sylvester currently works at St John of God Murdoch Hospital as a specialist obstetrician.
Hannah is a mother of two young children, both delivered at St John of God Murdoch Hospital, so has experience of the patient’s perspective. She is passionate about helping parents and care givers have a happy and safe start to their new or expanding family life.
