Professor Allan G Kermode MBBS, MD, FRACP, FRCP graduated from the University of Western Australia and was awarded the Medicinae Studii Princeps – the Australian Medical Association Gold Medal.
He is Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians (London) and has worked in the Oxford University Department of Neurology and the Institute of Molecular Medicine Oxford, The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London UK, the Heidelberg Kopfklinic, Germany, and in the National Institutes of Health, USA.
He has served as Honorary Secretary, Council Member and Coordinator of Advanced Training for the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists and is an Inaugural Member of the Central Scientific Committee and Treasurer of the Pan Asian Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis.
Professor Kermode is the former Head of the Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and currently is the Director of the Demyelinating Diseases Centre at the Perron Institute (formerly WANRI), Adjunct Professor of Neuroimmunology at Murdoch University, is Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Western Australia, and Visiting Professor at Sun Yat Sen University, PR China.
He has received numerous postgraduate awards and was an NHMRC CJ Martin Scholar. He has established the comprehensive Western Australian clinical database of more than 2,000 MS patients with comprehensive long term follow-up, has been involved in MS drug trials for many years, and has published extensively.
