Dr Corinne Jones is a senior specialist general surgeon, who from July 2023 will offer a service dedicated to breast patients at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. 

All patients will receive the highest level of multidisciplinary care. Dr Jones works closely with junior hospital doctors, dedicated breast care nurses, plastic surgeons, pastoral care, psychologists, geneticists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, who assist with arm movement and lymphoedema management.

All breast cancer cases and complex non-cancerous cases are discussed at the weekly St John of God Hospital Subiaco Breast Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDM/MDT).

Dr Jones always aims to provide patients with the best cosmetic result, incorporating some oncoplastic breast techniques for breast lump removal, lumpectomies and mastectomies. Dr Jones works closely with experienced plastic surgeons, who offer the full range of implant and tissue based breast reconstructions, at the same time (immediate) or some time after (delayed) mastectomy.

Dr Jones offers the new Magseed localisation technique (as well as the traditional hookwire localisation) to help in the removal of non-palpable breast cancers. In selected patients Dr Jones offers a single dose of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) at the time the breast cancer is removed as opposed to the usual three to six weeks for whole breast radiation at St John of God Hospital Subiaco. 

Dr Jones graduated in Medicine from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1989. After training in Perth teaching hospitals, she obtained her Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 1998. Dr Jones was the first woman born and raised in WA to undertake and complete a surgical fellowship (she was born at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital).

In late 1999 Dr Jones travelled to the United Kingdom and undertook post-fellowship training in breast and endocrine surgery. This included NHS positions in Glasgow, Scotland, and Sheffield and Boston, England.

During 2004 she undertook a 12-month Endocrine Surgery Fellowship in Poitiers, France. She returned to Boston as Director of the Breast Service at the Pilgrim Hospital, and she established a successful thyroid and parathyroid service.

Dr Jones received the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004. She arrived back in Perth in 2008 and worked as a consultant General and Breast Surgeon at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital from 2008 to 2009. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Breast Cancer Care WA from 2009 to 2022.

Dr Jones has worked at St John of God Subiaco Hospital since 2010. During this time she successfully provided expert care to breast, thyroid and parathyroid patients. Since December 2022 Dr Jones has intermittently worked at Fiona Stanley Hospital as a Locum Consultant Breast Surgeon, covering Breast Consultant leave.
