Dr Jones is also a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at St John of God Midland Public Hospital. Previously, he was employed at St John of God Subiaco Hospital as a Senior Cardiology Registrar and Registrar, which provided Dr Jones with great insight.
“Having previously worked here as a Senior Registrar I believe I have the inside knowledge of what it means to be a junior doctor at Subiaco,” he said.
Director of Medical Services, Dr Joe Pracilio, is delighted to see the careers of our medical staff flourish and continue in our hospital.
“It is wonderful to see how a JMO can become a consultant in our organisation, a model of engagement that we wish to repeat many times over in the future,” Dr Pracilio said.
Dr Jones oversees the Medical Teaching Unit and manages all aspects of the junior doctors’ postgraduate educational environment. His goal is to deliver the highest quality medical education in order to fulfil their training needs and provide patients with the highest possible standard of care.
“My aim is to provide our junior doctors with a worthwhile working experience while encouraging a healthy work-life balance, ensuring their wellbeing as they move into more advanced stages of training,” Dr Jones said.
Dr Jones’ previous experience in education gives him a great edge for this position.
“I believe that medical education is the foundation of any great hospital; from medical students to the most senior professor, we are all learning. Having delivered multidisciplinary medical education both within the private and public hospital systems I have been fortunate to see its benefits both at a personal and clinical level.”
