This prestigious award recognises Rosanna’s significant contributions to the Church’s presence in health and aged care, as well as her inspiring impact on others in the field.

A highly respected medical practitioner, educator and health care advocate, Rosanna has enjoyed an impressive career spanning nearly four decades.

She is currently the Principal of Floreat Medical, and has achieved several notable milestones, including:

  • Becoming the first woman and youngest person to serve as President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in WA and later as Federal AMA President.
  • Receiving the Bruce Shepherd Medal in 2022 for outstanding contributions to independent medicine.
  • Being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2023 for significant service to patient care, medicine, and as a role model to women.

Rosanna has served on numerous boards, including 14 years with St John of God Health Care where she continues to make a major impact.

St John of God Health Care Group CEO Bryan Pyne praised Rosanna for her tremendous contributions to our governance activities, particularly as Chair of the Patient Experience and Clinical Excellence Committee, among other key committees

“Rosanna serves as a constant reminder that patients are at the centre of everything we do,” he said.

“Her contributions extend beyond her role as a Board member here; they reach across both public and private hospitals, as well as the broader community.”

St John of God Health Care Board Chair Kerry Sanderson emphasised that Rosanna’s contributions align with the mission and vision of St John of God Health Care, which is to continue the healing mission of Jesus, and provide care that brings healing, hope and dignity, particularly to those in need.

“Rosanna’s professional accomplishments are significant, but her impact on others in the field is profound and lasting,” she said.

This year, for the first time, the award has been presented to two recipients. Charles Curran AC was also recognised at last night’s awards ceremony.

Rosanna expressed her gratitude for the award.

“Thank you to St John of God Health Care for nominating me, for everything I have learned, the experiences I have shared, and the time I have spent immersed in St John of God Health Care, which has helped me grow, develop and be a better person,” she said.
