318 photo submissions were received this year - a record number of entries for the competition.

National Director St John of God Raphael Services Helen McAllister said there was a diverse range of photos which captured positive relationships with children and a significant male in their lives across different generations.

“Men play a pivotal role in a child’s development, not just dads, but other men as well including grandfathers and uncles who can often be portrayed as ‘father figures’,” Helen said.

“The photos we received depicted healthy bonding and men spending quality time with children which contributes to long-term wellbeing outcomes.”

The Healthy Men, Healthy Minds competition is an annual competition aimed at raising awareness of the one in 10 Australian dads experiencing perinatal anxiety and depression.

Helen said the competition was also a great opportunity to highlight St John of God Raphael Services which provides free emotional support for dads, mums and families during the perinatal period.

A panel of judges will now select an overall winner who will receive a DJI Spark mini drone and two runners up who will each receive a $50 Myer voucher. Winners will be announced on the St John of God Health Care Facebook page and website on 28 June.
