This year, the International Nurses Day theme is ‘A voice to lead – health is a human right.’

Group Director of Nursing Cynthia Dowell said this theme highlights the important role that our nurses play in providing health care in our hospitals and the community everyday.

“We are proud to employ more than 6,100 nurses and midwives in our hospitals and divisions in WA, NSW and Victoria,” she said.

“Each and every one of our nurses are essential to providing highly skilled, and compassionate care that is a hallmark St John of God Health Care.

Cynthia said on International Nurses Day it was important to celebrate the care and hospitality that our nurses provide to all patients and their loved ones everyday.

“Our nurses guide our patients throughout their hospital journeys - from pre-admission clinic, care during the hospital stay through to post discharge support and home nursing,” she said.

“Nurses are critical to helping patients feel comfortable, supported and cared for when they come to St John of God Health Care hospitals.”
