Brody, born to parents Kristal Twight and Rob Wiese, was St John of God Subiaco Hospital’s first baby born this year and one of five babies born at the hospital on 1 January 2018.

“We are very excited that Brody was one of the first babies born in Perth for 2018,” Kristal said.

“It’s even more special for us as New Year’s Day was our five year anniversary. It certainly heightens the excitement for us,” she said.

Brody’s older brother Leighton was also born at St John of God Subiaco Hospital in June 2014.

Later on New Year’s Day, St John of God Midland Public Hospital’s first baby born for the year was born. Baby Keira was welcomed into the world at 7.56pm by parents Tahnee and Joshua.

Our Murdoch, Hawkesbury, Bunbury, Ballarat and Berwick hospitals also welcomed babies into the world on New Year’s Day.

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital first baby born in 2018

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital welcomed four babies into the world on the second day of 2018 - babies Scarlett, Meghna, Henry and Zara – adding to our New Year’s babies.

Kylie Mawson’s son Henry, who was born at 10.18am on 2 January, was a surprise addition to her family in 2018.

“We have three older children, so Henry was a bit a surprise,” she said.

“He was also six days late; he was supposed to be born on December 27 but he was told he had to come out because mummy had had enough.”

Kylie has welcomed all her children at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital, under the care of Dr Bruce Thyer.

“Henry is definitely going to be our last and I actually got a bit nostalgic when I was in the room looking out of the window, thinking this would be my last time here.”
