Now these three remain: Faith, Hope, & Love, but the greatest of these is love.

Throughout a year of constant uncertainty, what has been consistent is our Mission and our commitment to providing compassionate care to those who need it most.

Beginning this week, the Catholic tradition of Advent is a time for reflection, as we prepare for Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a season that invites us to think seriously about the meaning of time and how we use it.  Time is a precious gift, which gives us the opportunity to live as people of hope, peace, joy and love.

Compassion is especially important during Advent, and as we excitedly prepare for what is to come, let us endeavour, wherever possible, to include those who may be displaced, or out of reach of loved ones. Be willing to offer help to anyone who seeks our assistance, and to give thanks for the blessings in our own lives.

Advent also reminds us that there are only four Sundays before Christmas Day and this can be a busy and stressful time, even without the pressures of isolation, distancing and concern for our loved ones. Reflect on the year and celebrate the positives with friends and family, even if the festivities take a different format this year.
