St John of God Health Care advent

Advent is derived from the Latin word adventus meaning coming and marks the season of waiting and preparation for the coming of Jesus into the world.

During the season of Advent we recognise the seasons in our own human experience and take the time to reflect upon the year almost gone while looking forward with hope and anticipation to the year ahead.

So how does this fit into our Mission?

At St John of God Health Care, our Mission is to continue the healing mission of Jesus Christ through providing services that promote life to the full by enhancing the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual dimensions of being human.

During Advent, we reflect on how our every encounter demonstrates the Mission in action – whether that is caring for people in hospital, supporting people with a disability, providing community services for the at-risk and vulnerable or looking after each other.

Reflecting on this at Advent helps build connections for us with those we serve, reminding us of the vital importance of providing compassionate healing care to those who are waiting in hope of a better future.
