Michael, who moved from the eastern states to WA last year, is taking part in his first HBF Run for a Reason as a part of St John of God Health Care’s sponsorship of the event.
“In general I like to keep fit and active and have done lots of fun runs in the past and this looked like a great one to join,” he said.
Caregivers from the hospital’s Emergency Department, allied health team and throughout the wards and theatres will also take part in the event on 28 May 2017.
Michael said the benefits of the fun run went beyond improving the health and wellbeing of participants.
“As an organisation it is important that we support community activities,” Michael said.
“Physical events such as fun runs have the added benefit of being associated with health promotion and are also a good team building opportunity, with many caregivers from a wide range of departments involved.”
Michael and his Midland colleagues are among the hundreds of caregivers who are being supported by St John of God Health Care to take up the running challenge and improve their health and wellbeing.
