Dr William Beattie is a consultant gastroenterologist with a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, also consulting in a range of gastroenterological conditions including liver disease, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, GORD and bowel cancer prevention. 

William completed an inflammatory bowel disease fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and trained in intestinal ultrasound with the Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS). Intestinal ultrasound is a non-invasive technique for monitoring a range of bowel conditions and William is looking forward to introducing this useful diagnostic modality to the Geelong region.

William remains active in gastroenterological research, with research presented in national and international medical conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. William puts an emphasis on using evidence-based medicine to guide patient directed care. 

Having recently joined Geelong Gastroenterology at St John of God Geelong, William provides inpatient and outpatient care as well as elective gastroscopy and colonoscopy services. William also has a consultant appointment at University Hospital Geelong.
