Dr Babak Rad is an infectious diseases specialist with interest in:

• perinatal and postsurgical infections
• refugee health and tuberculosis
• exotic tropical infections such as multidrug resistant tuberculosis, brucellosis, cutaneous leishmaniosis and other parasitic infections.
• being involved in the challenge of treating patients with multi-drug resistant organisms.

Dr Rad graduated in 2002 after obtaining an M.D. degree and continued his career in infectious diseases field after joining the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2007. He had the experience of working in very culturally diverse communities when he was involved in treating Afghan, Turkish and Iraqi refugee patients in Tehran.

Working in Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia gave him the experience of treating patients with opportunistic infections in solid organ and hematopoietic transplant complications, HIV infected patients and also treating patients with infections after neurosurgical interventions. As a part of his training he was involved frequently in treating infections in patients admitted in ICU.
