Dr Eng Eng Ong is a specialist in palliative medicine who treats patients at St John of God Geelong Hospital.

Dr Ong graduated from Melbourne University in 1996. After medical school Dr Ong returned to her home country in Malaysia and completed her specialist training in general medicine via the MRCP (UK) pathway. This was followed by two years of full time work as a clinical specialist in internal medicine in a tertiary hospital before further specialty training in palliative medicine. She completed her Fellowship Program for Palliative Medicine and held a position as a consultant palliative medicine specialist in Penang Hospital, Malaysia.

While in Malaysia she pioneered the launch of a tertiary palliative care service in the Northern States of Peninsular Malaysia and developed educational programs for the medical staff. She set up inpatient palliative care beds in the tertiary hospital and worked collaboratively with the inpatient hospices and community home care services, providing holistic palliative care.

She returned to Australia in 2014 and completed a two year fellowship in palliative medicine at Barwon Health gaining equivalency for her training and she is now a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physician and the Royal Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine.
