Michael Lim is a consultant gastroenterologist who treats all adult gastroenterological conditions with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and gastro-immunology.

Michael was born in Singapore and, after completing national service, moved to Australia. He completed his medical degree (MBBS) in 2009 from the University of Western Australia and attained specialty recognition in gastroenterology (FRACP) in 2020. During his specialist training he also completed a Master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh with a thesis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

To further his sub-speciality interest, he undertook a local fellowship at Fiona Stanley Hospital and a prestigious overseas fellowship at the University of Oxford’s UK medical school teaching hospital, the John Radcliffe Hospital with a focus on complex IBD management, IBD biologics and gastro-immunological research.

Michael is passionate about patient care and believes that the patient is an active, important part of the treatment process. He promotes a safe, non-judgemental space for discussion of any issues and provides information for patients to make an informed choice about their health.

He treats both public and private patients at St John of God Midland Hospital.
