With over 88 known sleep disorders, hundreds of thousands of Australians suffer from disrupted sleep every day.
You may benefit from a review by a sleep physician and sleep study if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- snoring
- feeling tired during the day
- waking up with a headache
- difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- frequently going to the bathroom during the night.
About one-third of school-aged children suffer from a sleep disorder. This can impact their development, school performance, memory, mood and behaviour.
Children may benefit from a review by a sleep physician if they are:
- experiencing difficulty in school
- having trouble falling or staying asleep
- constantly tired
- having difficulty waking or staying awake
- a chronic snorer.
During a sleep study, you will either stay overnight at Subiaco Sleep Care or remain at home.
Specialised equipment is used to monitor your breathing, heart rate, snoring, oxygen levels and other key signs.
This monitoring provides your sleep physician with the necessary insights to help inform a diagnosis, and to devise a treatment plan that will help you get back to having a good night’s sleep.
The study is completely painless and your GP is advised of the result to ensure you have continuity of care.
Our sleep services include:
- review by a sleep physician
- full polysomnographic sleep studies, reviewing all the biophysiological changes that happen during sleep
- home based sleep studies, primarily used to diagnose sleep apnoea
- continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) management program
- insomnia management program
- management of other sleep disorders such as restless legs syndrome.
If you are concerned about your sleep or you think your child may be suffering from a sleep disorder, please ask your GP for a referral to Subiaco Sleep Care.
