With over two decades of service at St John of God Health Care, Nadine’s journey exemplifies her commitment to continuous learning and dedication across various roles and divisions within the organisation

Reflecting on her extensive career, Nadine shared her thoughts.

“After being at St John of God Health Care for 22 years, I felt the need to broaden my knowledge and skills to continue contributing effectively to our organisation in a constantly evolving business environment,” she said.

This motivation led her to pursue further education, transitioning from hospitality management to accounting, while balancing the responsibilities of single parenthood.

Receiving the Sister Bridget Clancy Scholarship was a moment of immense pride and validation for Nadine.

“I feel so honoured to have been selected as a recipient of this scholarship, especially considering the incredibly competitive selection process,”

For Nadine, the scholarship represents not only an opportunity for personal growth but also a chance to further contribute to the organisation she deeply cares about.

Nadine’s study plans for the year ahead include pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Management at the Australian Institute of Management WA.

“The units I will be completing this year will equip me with problem-solving and analytical skills required in my finance role,” she said.

Her ultimate goal is to obtain a Master of Business Administration (MBA), aligning her educational journey with her son’s graduation in 2026.

When asked about the impact of her studies on her role at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital, Nadine emphasised that her enhanced understanding of business management will enable her to contribute more effectively to the organisation’s mission.

“These further studies will provide me with the knowledge to better support our managers and address the challenges they face,”

Despite her various roles within the hospital, Nadine finds fulfillment in the passion, teamwork, and dedication of her colleagues.

“My work is varied and keeps me challenged. I find meaning in contributing to the teamwork, although I am not patient-facing, by doing my bit and providing finance assistance to other managers.”

The Sister Bridget Clancy Scholarship, now in its third year, continues to uphold the legacy of the Sisters of St John of God by supporting women caregivers in their professional development. Through initiatives like this scholarship, caregivers like Nadine are empowered to advance healthcare practices, ultimately benefiting patients and communities alike.
