If you are well-informed, you may find your confidence increases, you are more likely to have realistic expectations about pregnancy, birth and beyond and you may be better able to manage any fear or anxiety.

Antenatal education workshops

Our Antenatal Education Workshops are held on Saturday mornings.  We now offer two workshop options.

The first workshop is fantastic for new parents and parents who have already had children and would like a refresher.  The focus of this workshop is on high quality information on pregnancy and birth, including:

  • the benefits of an active birth
  • LUSC
  • health pregnancy information.

Our other workshop is perfect for first-time parents and includes information on:

  • expectations of the post-partum period and parenthood
  • settling your baby
  • nappy changing exercises
  • what to expect from parenthood
  • postnatal depression and the resources available.

These workshop are well received by expectant parents, who particularly appreciate the practical tools we teach to help manage labour and birth including positioning, relaxation and distraction techniques.

Breastfeeding workshops
Our breastfeeding workshop is a free 1.5 hour session held each Wednesday to prepare mothers for breastfeeding.

Hosted by an experienced lactation consultant, this small group covers feeding cues, correct attachment, positioning and other important information a breastfeeding mother needs to know.

These education workshops are designed to help make your journey into parenthood the safe, memorable and incredible one that it should be.

If you are booked to have your baby at our hospital, you can book our parent education workshops by calling the Family Birthing Unit Ward Clark on 9370 9420.
