New Short Stay Unit officially open

Following five months of construction, the new St John of God Ballarat Hospital Short Stay Unit has been completed and is operational.

St John of God Ballarat Hospital CEO and Regional Manager Alex Demidov said that as the stress on emergency departments increases the need to continually expand hospital facilities is essential.

“The creation of this new unit has come in response to community need” he said.

The new unit will help to alleviate some pressure off the emergency department and improve access to quality emergency care for the Ballarat community.

The Short Stay Unit has 11 private rooms with each having its own private amenities including ensuite bathrooms.

There is also a communal area which will give visiting families a space to relax while their loved one is receiving treatment.
