At St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals OTs assist patients with an illness, injury or disability with undertaking daily activities.

St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Occupation Therapy Coordinator Jenni French said OTs work closely with doctors, nurses and other health professionals to best support patients in achieving optimum health and wellbeing.

“OTs help patients develop, recover and improve the skills needed for daily living and working, providing a tailored therapy plan for every individual,” she said.

The role of OTs is to improve functional ability of patients and connect them with organisations and health professionals that can assist them with their recovery following discharge from hospital.

“Our OTs are dedicated to helping people regain their independence and ability to manage at home,” Jenni said.

“Sometimes independence is not about getting back to the ‘normal’ like they were before, but being able to adapt so they can still take care of themselves.

“Occupational therapy is a very rewarding career. I have always loved helping people and empowering others to help themselves, including discovering their strengths and confidence in themselves to succeed.”

St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals offers a range of occupational therapy services to public and private patients.
