What made you take the plunge to move to Australia with St John of God Health Care?

I moved to Australia just for a new experience, I kind of thought the lifestyle would be nice and I’d suit the lifestyle, and then I ended up getting a job at St John of God Health Care because I was there as agency staff. It was very warm and it just felt very welcoming when you go into the hospital from every area.

How is being a midwife in Australia different to Ireland?

I feel very fortunate to have trained and worked in Ireland, and gained fantastic experience. For the most part, there isn’t a huge difference but there are multiple models of care for women to choose from, and because of this as a midwife there are lots of job opportunities in the various models which allows you to grow as a midwife gaining good experience and skills.

What has it been like working with us so far?

It’s been great, I have had amazing opportunities. I have been nominated for permanent residency and I got that through very quickly and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without the support of St John of God Health Care.

What has been your most memorable experience since moving to Australia?

I suppose just the simple and easy lifestyle that we have in Australia, I have been very lucky to stay here and have the opportunity to live here longer than I anticipated.

How have you seen the Value of care/compassion being shown since working for us?

I think there is great support for everyone, managers in particular will go above and beyond, they are very easy to talk to and all the values are shown from the minute you walk in until you leave.
