Meet our executive team
Stephen Roberts
Chief Executive Officer
Stephen was appointed Chief Executive Officer at Geelong in
1991.
His previous appointments included Chief Executive at St John of
God Health Care Goulburn and Chief Clerk at Tamworth Base Hospital.
He holds a Bachelor in Business (CSU), Bachelor of Health
Administration (UNSW) and is a Graduate of the Mt Eliza Management
College Executive Development program.

Patricia Boom
Director of Mission
Patricia was appointed to the position of
Director of Mission in December 2000.
Patricia has held many positions in her 18
years with St John of God, including Director of Mission
at St John of God's Brighton psychiatric hospital, which operated
from 1949 to 1999, and Acting Mission Leader at St John of God
Pinelodge Clinic. In July 2007 she accepted a temporary
secondment to Christchurch, New Zealand, to assist in the
integration of the New Zealand services of the Brothers of St John
of God into those of St John of God Health Care.
Patricia began her career as a nurse and midwife, training in
Adelaide and the United Kingdom and spent 18 months working with
the Royal Flying Doctors' Service in South Australia and Northern
Territory. Patricia has a Graduate Diploma in Health Administration
and one in Training and Education, an Advanced Certificate in
Theology and qualifications in Clinical Pastoral Education and
Ministry.

Tony Ficca
Director of Finance
Tony was appointed to the role of Director of Finance in
October 2005.
Tony has held a number of senior positions in the health care
industry, including consulting on strategic development at
Defence Health Insurance and Executive Manager Finance and
Company Secretary at GMHBA. Tony's career has also included being
Finance Manager at Ambulance Service Victoria - South Western
Region. Tony has a Commerce Degree from Deakin University and is a
Fellow of the Australian Society of CPA's as well as being a
Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Tony
also holds a number of Board positions within the Geelong
community.

Taanya Widdicombe
Director of Hospital and Community
Development
Taanya has held the role of Director Community Development since
January 2005.
Previously Taanya had been managing the St John of God
Foundation's community projects in Geelong and has a strong
knowledge and commitment to the local community. Taanya has a
nursing background beginning her career with the Phillip Institute
of Technology in 1982 and worked at a wide variety of both public
and private hospitals throughout metropolitan and country
Victoria before commencing employment with St John of God
Geelong Hospital in 1990.
Donna Walter
Director of Nursing
Donna has been appointed Director of Nursing in October 2012.
Since August 2008 Donna has held the role of
Director of Nursing at SJG Ballarat and undertook the role of
Acting Chief Executive Officer in 2011. Prior to this Donna was the
Assistant Director of Nursing Day Co-ordinator /Human Resources in
Ballarat and had various roles as After Hours Co-ordinator and
Clinical Nurse specialist in 2005. Donna has completed a
Graduate Certificate in Business Management, and Graduate
Certificate in Catholic Leadership and Catholic Culture at
Australian Catholic University.
Dr Patrick Lockie
Medical Advisor - shared role
Dr Patrick Lockie was appointed Medical Advisor at St John of
God Hospital Geelong in October 2005. An ophthalmologist, Dr
Lockie has a long-standing association with the hospital. The
Medical Advisor role provides clinical leadership for the
hospital's medical staff and facilitates the co-ordination of
services between medicine and other clinical disciplines as well as
actively participating in the credentialing and medical
appointments process.
Adjunct Professor Steve Bolsin
Medical Advisor - shared role
Adjunct Professor Bolsin shares the role of Medical Advisor with
Dr Lockie and has done so since May 2011. Currently working as a
Specialist Anaesthetist at Barwon Health, he has been involved in
auditing issues related to performance management and clinical
governance over the past 20 years. Steve has assumed responsibility
for quality and safety within the hospital and Dr Lockie continues
to provide support in the management and growth of the medical
workforce.
