Mr Joel Stein is a general surgeon with clinical interests in colorectal surgery.

After completing his internship in Cape Town, Mr Stein spent a year working in rural South Africa before spending two years working and gaining valuable experience in the United Kingdom. Mr Stein then moved to Australia and completed his surgical training in Perth. Following that he did another year of post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Since completing his training, Mr Stein has worked as a consultant surgeon on the colorectal unit at Royal Perth Hospital and currently holds consultant posts at St John of God Midland Private Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Apart from all aspects of general and colorectal surgery, Mr Stein has special interests in hernia surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and acute general surgical emergencies. He has regular colonoscopy lists at St John of God Midland Private Hospital.

Mr Stein is very active in teaching at both an undergraduate and post-graduate level. He has volunteered his time as an instructor on numerous trauma management courses and been involved with the universities as well as the College of Surgeons as an examiner in various examinations.

Mr Stein treats both public and private patients at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals.
