Dr Sasikaran graduated from University of Colombo Sri Lanka with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (with Honours) in 1999. He completed his exams and was then admitted as a Doctor of Medicine in 2004. Dr Sasikaran continued to study and completed the training program through the Adult Medicine Division. After six years of extensive training Dr Sasikaran was admitted into the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with the speciality in geriatric medicine 2012.
