Dr Son Nguyen completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 1999. He undertook internship and residency as a junior medical officer at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney before undertaking specialist training in psychiatry in the northern Sydney area. He did his last year of training at STARTTS, the NSW service for victims of torture and trauma and has retained an interest in post-traumatic stress disorder since then.

Dr Nguyen graduated from specialist training in 2007 and has extensive experience in treating patients in and out of hospital. He has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Sydney Clinic, Northside Cremorne Clinic, Mosman Private Hospital, South Pacific Private Hospital and Wesley Private Hospital in the past.

Dr Nguyen specialises in the assessment and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, mood and anxiety disorders and workplace injury related mental disorders.
