Mr Li-On Lam is an orthopaedic surgeon with a sub-specialist interest in shoulder, knee and hip surgery. He treats patients at St John of God Murdoch Hospital and St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital. 

Mr Lam completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia, and underwent training as an orthopaedic surgeon under the West Australian training scheme. He obtained further training and experience by completing fellowships in shoulder, knee and hip surgery including joint replacement surgery as well as the arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder conditions. He also had further fellowship training in general orthopaedic trauma.

Mr Lam has a keen interest in teaching and training and participates in the education of orthopaedic trainees. He serves on the state training committee as the convenor of ‘bone school’ – the formal tutorial programme for trainees and was involved in the development and implementation of the new curriculum to train the surgeons of the future.

Mr Lam has had the privilege of working with Australian doctors for Africa and has visited Madagascar six times in providing humanitarian assistance in very basic and austere surgical environments.
