Having worked as the hospital’s gardener for over 12 years, Tony takes great pride in fostering the garden areas that are enjoyed by many.

Our gardens, many overlooking the swan river, provide a tranquil place for patients to enjoy while they heal and recover. Our caregivers use them to take time out during their breaks and hospital visitors often picnic under the jacarandas

Tony’s dedication to managing these important spaces was recognised when he received the November Living Values award.

He was nominated by Facilities Supervisor Mark Day for being an outstanding example of the hospital’s value of Excellence.

Mark says Tony’s passion is evident in his work.

“As a hospital we are unique and fortunate with the size and variety of our gardens. Tony is full of ideas   and has completely reinvigorated the grounds, maximising its potential for others to enjoy.”

Acting Chief Executive Ben Edwards is very impressed with Tony’s handiwork.

“The level of perfection and care that Tony takes in maintaining the gardens is incredible. It’s like he cuts each blade of grass with a pair of scissors!” says Ben.

Tony said receiving the award has added extra spring in his step.

“The hospital’s gardens are a great way for me to express my creativity. What’s most rewarding is the positive comments I receive from patients and caregivers,” says Tony.
