Redevelopment

Stage 1 of the $200 million+ St John of God Murdoch Hospital redevelopment project is now complete, ahead of time and on budget.

We have now embarked on Stage 2 of our redevelopment project, which included new signage and a way-finding approach, a new Chapel and a refurbished main entrance and foyer.

Also as part of stage 2 of the Murdoch Redevelopment project, the six original 1994 wards located in the hospital’s North Wing are being refurbished.

The general finish will mirror the style of the new South Wing wards, with minor alterations to general layouts. Construction commenced in May 2015, and the wards are being refurbished one at a time.

Every effort will be made to minimise noise and vibration during the refurbishment, however as with all construction works some disturbances are possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the refurbishments, and we look forward to bringing our original wards up to the same stunning standard as our new South Wing wards.

Stage one of this project included the refurbishment and expansions of Central Sterilisation Supply Department, Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units, kitchen, theatre holding and the Wexford Car Park.

Following the opening of two additional theatres in December, our hospital now features:

• 507 beds (up from 363)
• 25 Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit beds (up from 15)
• 16 theatres (up from 10)
• 1824 car parking bays (up from 1375)
• 1700 caregivers (up from 1500)
• Provision of outstanding care for almost 75,000 patients per year (up from 50,000).
