St John of God Warrnambool Hospital Director of Nursing Leanne McPherson said through raffles, market days, barbeques and the sale of knitted scarves, hats and children’s clothing, the auxiliary had donated many items to the hospital over the years.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such an active auxiliary, with more than 20 members,” Leanne said.

“They are always busy planning the next event or the next project to help our hospital.

“In the past year, they have donated six pain relieving pumps and a bladder scanner, both of which have had a significant impact on our patients’ experience and health outcomes.”

Most recently, the auxiliary has presented the hospital with a cheque for $3,900 for the purchase of a new bariatric chair and high low bed.

St John of God Warrnambool Hospital Chief Executive Officer Jo Bell said the new chair was a welcome addition to the clinical unit.

“Bariatric chairs offer more support with arms and a sturdier frame, which provide our patients with an added layer of safety and comfort,” she said.

“We sincerely thank our auxiliary for this donation and for working so hard to help us ensure our patients’ wellbeing.

“We really do value the amazing contribution they make to our hospital.”
