St John of God Subiaco Hospital has launched a new Hand Trauma Service in response to growing demand from the General Practitioner community.

It is the third service offered as part of the hospital’s 1800 SUBIHELP hotline (1800 782 443), which also includes the Chest Pain Centre and Acute Medical Unit.

Using the hotline, GPs and other health providers can easily refer patients for fast admission to St John of God Subiaco Hospital to receive acute care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Angus Keogh said that “Hand trauma, if not managed appropriately, can have long-term consequences, impacting peoples’ ability to function and quality of life.”

“By utilising these services, GPs can arrange streamlined access to leading specialist care for patients with work related injuries and or private health insurance, avoiding public hospital emergency wait times,” he said.
