First girl in 84 years for Scarborough family

On Tuesday 15 October baby Lillian Mary was born at St John of God Subiaco Hospital to Scarborough parents Adam and Victoria Bray.

As the first girl born into the Bray family in 84 years Lillian’s arrival surprised everyone and caused extra reason to celebrate.

Victoria and Adam chose not to find out their baby’s gender during the pregnancy.

Their first born child was a boy and they expected the ‘family tradition’ to continue.

When Victoria held Lillian for the first time she was so surprised and happy that she broke down in tears.

Grandmother Lynn Bray said they immediately called Adam’s 90 year old grandmother, Margaret, in England to let her know about Lillian’s birth.

"She’s waited patiently her entire life for someone in the family to have a baby girl,” she said.

“We are so happy to finally have a beautiful girl in the family.”
