The funds were donated to the PanCare Foundation in support of a clinical trial led by St John of God Subiaco Hospital Oncologist Dr Andrew Dean who was very grateful for the assistance.

“Increased funding in research will allow us to further enhance our understanding of pancreatic cancer and how we can improve treatments for patients,” Dr Dean said.

The money raised will also help the PanCare Foundation to create the first pancreatic cancer nurse position in Western Australia.

This will provide patients one on one support to help improve their quality of life in their fight against pancreatic cancer.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital Nurse Manager Rebecca Robinson said this is the first event of its kind in Western Australia.

"We hope it will make a positive contribution to the care and support that our patients and their families receive,” she said.

“Through increased funding in research and dedicated care, survival rates and quality of life will improve for people living with the disease.”
