Room Service now at Murdoch

The patient-centred food service model is a first for private hospitals in WA.

2 Jun 2020

Room service

The St John of God Murdoch Hospital room service model was introduced to all inpatients (those staying overnight) including maternity from 2 June.

This means delicious food on demand at a time that suits our patients and all catering is covered with the hospital fee (also applies to paying boarders). Some of the menu options include made-to-order noodle bowls, fresh salads, a range of pasta, burgers, grilled fish and classic mains.

The introduction follows a trial on St Marys ward (maternity) during 2019 and then a couple of weeks mock runs last month on two wards.

We know that while patients are in hospital, meals are an important part of their experience and clinical recovery.  Murdoch patients can now simply order what they like, when they like, with our room service menu, and all meal and snacks will be freshly prepared and delivered to the patient room. Any item on our room service menu is available to order between 6.30am and 8.00pm.

Our menus are vegan and allergy aware and our menu office is able to advise of suitable menu items for special dietary requirements. A special diets menu has been developed for clinical needs such as texture modified or liquid diets.

Please be advised that room service is available to inpatients (ie overnight) and paying boarders only. Room service is not offered with day procedures.
