Research Operations Manager Dr Steve Edmondston said the 2017-19 Murdoch Research Report summarises the projects conducted by the Murdoch research teams and their collaborators over the past two years.

“A culture of research and inquiry is an important element of our strategy to provide excellent clinical care at St John of God Murdoch Hospital,” he said.

“The growth in research activity is evidence of Murdoch’s reputation for excellence in research conduct.

“This success reflects the dedication of investigators and research teams and all caregivers involved in patient care.”

With five research units employing more than 15 researchers, the research program at Murdoch is diverse and has a strong patient-centred focus.

“The research program explores both current and future challenges in hospital-based healthcare including the impact of new treatments and technologies, models of patient care, and evaluation of clinical outcomes," Dr Edmondston said.

“Our research success has helped attract industry funding for clinical trials, and investigator-led studies.

“Murdoch is participating in multi-centre trials which are supported by project grants, while university collaborations are another important source of research funding.”

The report includes the details of 23 clinical trials underway and 49 publications related to research conducted by Murdoch research teams and collaborators over the past two years.
