Libby is an Occupational Therapist with a background working with a variety of patient groups including veterans and in injury management.

“It is great to join the Occupational Health and Safety team here at SJG Mt Lawley Hospital, and I look forward to getting to know caregivers over the coming months.

“My role will be to carry out risk and ergonomic assessments for caregivers, and to provide manual handling training.

“It is important our caregivers are looked after and have a safe place to work, as they are the ones providing care for our patients.

“I encourage anyone who has any concerns about risks or equipment to notify their manager and come and see me. I am also happy to provide guidance if there is a particular patient that caregivers need advice on moving as part of their care.

Libby is available every Monday and Tuesday and on Friday mornings, supported by Frank Loss, OHS Lead Consultant outside these days.

She will be rolling out training for the new My Safe Handling Program, which aims to reduce the risk of injury to caregivers when transferring patients.

Chief Executive Officer, Ms Chris Hanna, says Libby is a welcome addition to our Occupational Health and Safety team.

"Caregiver wellbeing continues to be a priority areas for St John of God Health Care, and I hope you will join me in welcoming Libby."
