Ben Edwards, A/Chief Executive Officer, says the expansion is important in positioning St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital as a frontrunner in private rehabilitation care.

“Our service provides specialist rehabilitation care and is Western Australia’s first nationally accredited private facility,” said Ben.

“This means we now have 51 beds dedicated to rehabilitation and reconditioning care for people who are trying to improve their health and independence after surgery, illness or injury.

“It was great to see the new facility already busy on day one, with patients being supported by dedicated rehabilitation nurses and allied health staff working together to make sure all aspects of the patient’s care are looked after.”

The new pod will be overseen by the hospital’s Head of Rehabilitation, Dr Ian Wilson and will be managed by Nurse Manager, Gail Miller.

It is an exciting time for the hospital, which along with this expansion of specialist rehabilitation services will continue to provide excellent care across other medical, surgical and obstetrics services.
