Manager Infection Prevention and Control Lucille Ridley said RU achieved a compliance rate of 85.9% placing them above group and national targets.
“Hand hygiene is the number one strategy in the prevention of healthcare associated infections,” said Lucille.
“Our RU caregivers have demonstrated a great commitment to continuing to improve their results.
“This is a priority throughout our hospital, which is important in maintaining our patient’s health. Poor hand hygiene can result in illness, longer stays in hospital, slower recovery and also an increase in the use of antibiotics to treat this."
Our RU caregivers received the ‘Hand Hygiene’ trophy – which was awarded to our Third Floor caregivers for 2015 – and were treated to a morning tea.
Well done team!
