Located on the first floor, the garden was created for families who have experienced the loss of their baby.

St John of God Midland Public Hospital Midwife Manager Julie Rakic said the garden provides a peaceful setting for families to remember, reflect, acknowledge and begin the healing process.

“The garden is also open to caregivers and others who have been blessed to be part of these babies short lives,” she said.

“Each family has been given the opportunity to have an engraved heart-shaped plaque placed in the garden in their baby’s name, which also serves as a way for the hospital to continue to honour the baby.

At the dedication a special reading was made by one of the mothers.

Companies that have donated products and services for the garden also attended the ceremony, including Tim Loader from TEK, who made the plaques, and Carla from Environmental Services, who cares for the garden.
