In collaboration with Australia’s leading providers of surgical technology, St John of God Bunbury Hospital’s own Mr Senarath Werapitiya will chair the conference, with the aim to share skills and knowledge around the latest techniques in obesity surgery.

“The conference is an opportunity for the great minds of WA’s bariatric surgery world to gather, share their expertise and discuss where-to-from-here in the ever-growing market of surgical weight-loss solutions for obese patients” Mr Werapitiya said.

It is the first time this conference, the brain child of Bariatric Surgeon Mr Werapitiya, will take place in Bunbury with around 80 health professionals from Perth and the South West expected to attend.

Mr Werapitiya said the benefits of the conference not only include the opportunity for the sharing of knowledge, but also a boost to Bunbury’s tourism industry with conference attendees visiting from out of town staying in Bunbury hotels and utilising local cafes, restaurants and speciality stores.

It is envisioned the conference will become an annual event on the medical education calendar.

Event tickets are avalible through Eventbrite.
