Community Walk and New Hospital Open Day

In the lead up to the opening of our new hospital on 18 January 2018, we are hosting a Community Walk and a hospital Open Day to give you a sneak peak inside the new facility.

We are thrilled to be opening our new hospital on 18 January 2018. On this same day, our current hospital located at Gibb Street Berwick will close its doors, ready for its own redevelopment and transition to a new service.

For over 100 years the Gibb Street site has provided healthcare to the community. Babies have been born, people have passed away, caregivers have built their careers, volunteers have dedicated their time within the walls of the hospital. Doctors have performed life changing and saving surgeries. To honour the past, memories and the lives which have been changed at Gibb Street, a symbolic community walk will be held on Sunday 7 January 2018, along with your first chance to see inside the new hospital.

Sunday 7 January 2018

There are two options for guests on the 7th January 2018 - you must register for either event.

Option 1

What: All members of the community, along with our caregivers (past and present) are invited to join us. Once participants arrive at Kangan Drive, they are welcome to tour the new hospital and join in the New Hospital Open Day festivities.
When: Sunday 7 January 2018
Time: Register at 8.00am for a 9.00am start
Where: Start at the current hospital site at Gibb Street
Requirements: A reasonable fitness level is required to participate. Walk is approximately 1.9km.
Parking: Car parking will be available at Berwick Railway Station, Coles Berwick (Langmore Lane) and along the surrounding streets. Please consider car pooling due to limited car parking. Normal car parking restrictions apply.
Please do not bring your dogs on this walk.

Option 2

What: To celebrate the opening of our brand new hospital we invite you to come along to have a guided tour and join in the festivities. Mix 101.1 FM will be onsite, entertainment, food, drinks, giveaways and more.
When: Sunday 7 January 2018
Time: 10.00am to 2.00pm

Where: Thee new St John of God Berwick Hospital at 75 Kangan Drive Berwick
Parking: Car parking will be available along Kangan Drive and also in the hospital basement car park (fee applies)
